Leverage! Awesome show, I love it! The team there is sooo cool! Every time I watch it I have so much fun!
And I just started watch Hawaii 5-0. And honestly I don't like one of the characters. And sometimes plot is sooo stupid!
But! I watch it and I almost finished watching 1ts season because of these two:
Steve and Danny



I see slash between them! Or, may be it is very good friendship, but what I see is awesome ust
So, watch leverage without any doubt and may be Hawaii 5-O (this worth watching only because of Steve and Danny. So watch this Sneak Peek from 1-01 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIi7Dk5LOTk), conversation between Steve and Danny. I love it And if you like dynamics between the two of them, i think you should watch it. If not... :( well, then it's not worth trying)

I think I'm leaning slightly more towards Leverage than H50 at this point - mostly I think because I've read some fic for that already which was recced to me, and the characters seemed fun. Which of the H50 people don't you like, out of interest?

Yes, they are fun. I love all of them! All of them are interesting, they aren't ordinary. I can't explain it, but they attract me so much!

Hmmm! I found it hard to check a box for any of the shows on the list; there are only two of them I've seen, and one I find it hard to recommend to anybody (Carnivale - I loved it, but it's incredibly dark and some parts are offputtingly misogynistic) and one (Leverage) I stopped watching halfway through (there wasn't a big bad thing or anything like that; it's just that the show's focus, character-wise, ended up being so frustrating to me that I quit). However, a lot of my flist likes Leverage, and it is a fun show, so perhaps you will like it!

As far as other shows not on the list - if you haven't seen it, I highly recommend Community! It is light, very funny, short episodes (only a half-hour long), wonderful characters, and FULL of geeky nerd in-jokes. (I need to caveat this one too, however, because this show has some pretty problematic stuff at times -- it's about 90% awesome and then every so often you'll run smack into a really ooky joke or storyline. IMHO the awesome makes up for it, but your mileage may vary.)

Thank you for the suggestions! (I have to say, I suspect I would find Carnivale less infuriating than Game of Thrones :P) Your Carnivale reaction posts were very intriguing; I think I probably will end up taking a look at it at some point. Well, as I said above, all the options are shamelessly stolen from my flist - I like talking about what I'm watching, and also I never have any idea about what shows are around without seeing other people talk about them.

I shall have a look at Community - I think I'm most likely going to check out Leverage first, though, mostly because I've been reading quite a few of the fics astridv recs and liking what I've seen of the characters in them (and also I really like crime-ish shows). Can I ask what it was about the focus you didn't like?

Also, totally unrelated, but I know you've read the books and I want to briefly share my squee at Cordelia Vorkosigan. She is AMAZING.

CORDELIAAAAAAAA! Yes, she is. :D Even though the main characters in most of the books are men, the female characters are really awesome. (Though I love the guys too!)

I would love to have more people for talking about Carnivale; it's just that it is SUCH a dark show (with some potentially quite triggery sexual-assault stuff) that I'd hate to think of someone going into it unawares on a rec from me.

Can I ask what it was about the focus you didn't like?

Since you've read the fic and are presumably semi-acquainted with the characters -- I loved three of them (Parker, Hardison and Elliot), really liked Sophie when she was on her own (as opposed to being in Nate's orbit) and was completely indifferent to Nate. And Nate was more or less the main character, so my recollection of the show (which may be unfair at this point) is that the others tended to get pushed aside by the focus on Nate's manpain and his romantic woes. That was what ended up killing my interest in the show -- I wanted fun teamy shenanigans, and I ended up getting the Nate's Epic Angst Show. (I also found the plots generally unconvincing -- the show never really sold me on these guys feeling like criminals, the way White Collar and Hustle do -- but that's the sort of thing I would've been more willing to ignore if I hadn't been frustrated with the character balance.)

Obviously mileage may vary, however -- if you end up really liking Nate, then of course this wouldn't be a problem. :D And I would hate to prejudice you against the show beforehand.

Cordelia has all my hearts. Miles has a lot too (and a good deal of facepalms), but Cordelia has ALL OF THEM. "All Barrayan women go to the capital to shop." ♥

That does also line up with what I've heard of Leverage. I think I'll give it a go, definitely, and see what I think. Unfortuanatly, excessive manpain seems to be pretty hard to avoid :P (I'm not sure how it took me 5 seasons to quit House, and I stuck out Lost. Masochism, possibly.) And I think I probably will watch Carnivale too - but definitely thank you for letting me know what I'm getting into with it :)

...although between the Vorkosigan books and the silly number of WIPs I have going, I'm not sure when exactly I'm expecting myself to fit that much TV in *gg*

I really loved the ASoIaF books for the first two, and then it allll went downhill. So I'm not sure I could watch GoT without a lot of frustration :P
