Scattered fic updates

I have written 100,000 words of Guardian fanfic since the end of June!

For comparison, my most productive year ever according to AO3 was 2013, during which I posted 135,582 words over 12 months.

Chapter 2/7 of Above all shadows rides the sun is up. Next chapter on Saturday. I'm so glad everyone likes cliffhangers.

I also wrote three fills on the hurt/comfort prompt meme that xparrot has been hosting.

I'm amused to realise that I'm now apparently very here for Zhao Yunlan calling Shen Wei "baby" and actually prefer it over Xiao-Wei. This changed over the course of my fics as I gradually began writing them in a more and more shippy way. I still haven't quite worked up to Shen Wei using diminutives, though.

I swear I'll get back to the 30 days posts! I just don't have brain for much that's not Shadows. But I'm literally writing the very last scene of that right now! (Um, when I'm not procrastinating by making DW posts.)

ETA: Shadows is now FINISHED! A hair over 30,000 words. I'm so pleased with it :D (And preserving this feeling for posterity before I decide that it's terrible after all!)

I really like (fanon's? novel's?) use of "baby," too, which is weird because I don't like it as romantic endearment at all in real life. But it suits ZYL so well!

I am not currently on tumblr, it is too much of a terrible drain on my time. Twitter is quite bad enough and at least I'm actually having *conversations* there rather than just endlessly scrolling!

I wasn't sure I liked "baby" when I first started coming across it in fic but I have absolutely been converted. I can just hear ZYL saying it, it's very him. (I believe he uses it in the novel too.)

Sooo many words. I can't quite believe it!

I so love Zhao Yunlan using pet names for Shen Wei! I'm convinced Shen Wei explodes a little bit inside every time Zhao Yunlan calls him something cute. They both deserve to be sappy together.

The "baby" thing haaaah in past fandoms I've kind of hated it but then with WeiLan it completely melts me, every time? ^^;;; I like the Xiao-Wei too but not as much, it's just such a...tender thing between them, and yeah I am convinced Shen Wei secretly adores it...

(And yeah in the novel Zhao Yunlan calls him "baobei"宝贝 which not only is an endearment usually translated to "baby, darling" and even sounds similar, but its literal meaning is "treasure" 😊)

I don't quite understand how this many words happened! And I'm super desperate to write more! This fandom, wow. (I'm doing a Jiajia one next for definite.)

Weilan is so unbelievably cute. They need all the softness and adorable pet names. I mean, as well as the knives... But the knives just make us appreciate the softness more!

--Also I am with you that it's really hard to get Shen Wei to do pet names! I can barely get him to say just "Yunlan" ^^;;(though in the book he uses "Yunlan" pretty commonly...Ah-lan only once or twice though, I think?)
