The whole time I was reading this I was trying to figure out what he was on. It wouldn't be bud (I thought that's what you were implying by saying "high") but you wouldn't react like that unless you had a bad reaction or it was dirty. I could possibly see acid doing such insane visuals (I was standing inside a fountain convinced it was a huge orb of light only last weekend) but you'd also have different reactions. Although he IS coming down and things get pretty bleak when that happens, so it just might fit.
