A Gen-ish Prompt Meme!
I am feeling happy and celebratory, so I want to host a prompt meme!
All fandoms welcome. Hurt/comfort loved ^_^
How to play
1. Leave prompts below! Put the fandom, main character(s), and a brief description of the you're requesting in the comment header, i.e. "DMBJ, Liu Sang, accidental overhearing", or "W359, space pets". Then use the body of the comment to provide more details.
2. Read the prompts and fill ones you feel like filling! Or make art inspired by them or anything. Please include "Fill" in the comment header so they're easy to locate.
Rules
1. Anyone can write and fill prompts. You don't have to be signed in; anon comments are fine.
2. Links to fills on AO3 etc are also fine.
3. No minimums for prompts or fills.
4. Multiple fills for a single prompt are fine.
5. Prompts and fills should be gen-ish/gen-focused. This rule is because it's my meme and I can :D So established or background relationships can be just ~there~ but not the focus.
6. If you want to make a fill that breaks rule 5, you actually can, just please post it on AO3 and link back with a note that it's rule-breaking :P
Fills

Fill: Cascade deleted scene (from ch1, now non-canon)
There was light coming in around the edges of the curtains, so it must be the next day. Liu Sang pushed himself cautiously up onto his elbows, and found that his glasses had been joined on the bedside table by a small brass bell. He stared blankly at it for a moment, then sat up the rest of the way. The sleep had definitely been good for him, and he wasn't going to ring for attention, like an impatient hotel customer.
Still, navigating his way out of the bedroom still took far longer than he wanted it to, even though he decided he just couldn't be bothered changing out of the clothes he'd slept in right then. (He justified it to himself by not wanting to chance one Wu Xie or Pangzi walking in on him mid-dressing.) But the radio noise gave him cover, and it wasn't until he was actually standing in the kitchen doorway that either of the other men noticed him.
"Jinx, you're up!" Pangzi said, reaching hastily to switch the radio off. "Didn't you see the bell?"
"I saw it," Liu Sang said, choosing to answer the purely factual question.
"You should have rung it instead of getting out of bed," Pangzi said. "I was going to bring you breakfast."
He actually looked a bit disappointed. Liu Sang didn't bother arguing, but sat down at the table instead, around the side from Wu Xie. He registered for the first time the mound of groceries on the counter-top. "You brought all this food?" he asked.
"I did," Pangzi said. "Tianzhen said you didn't have any."
"I do have food," Liu Sang protested.
"You do not," Pangzi said. "Your fridge was practically empty."
Liu Sang glared at him, then at Wu Xie. "You should have checked the freezer," he complained.
"I did," Wu Xie said, maddeningly amused. "And I found the instant noodles in the cupboard too."
"There you go. Food."
Pangzi snorted. "Ready meals and instant noodles don't count."
"Of course they do," Liu Sang said. "Food's food."
"Absolutely not," Pangzi said. "That sort of rubbish won't help you get well."
"Listen to Pangzi," Wu Xie said. He snatched a piece of fruit out from under Pangzi's chopping knife, and grinned when he got whacked with Pangzi's free hand in response.
None of this, however, solved the key question. "Why?" Liu Sang demanded.
"Why what?" Pangzi asked.
"Why are you —" Unable to find the words, Liu Sang settled for making a sweeping gesture instead.
Pangzi put down his chopping knife so that he could more theatrically look heavenwards and rolled his eyes. "Jinx. Are you really this slow?"
Liu Sang glared at him.
"We're looking after you," Wu Xie said. "You just got out of hospital. You're being looked after."
"We're not accepting arguments at this time," Pangzi added.
Re: Fill: Cascade deleted scene (from ch1, now non-canon)
He and Wu Xie were in the kitchen, dissecting some antiques deal over the background of radio noise. (Liu Sang didn't even own a radio.)
I love this little detail. If Pangzi is going to cook he wants his own soundtrack, of course
"Jinx, you're up!" Pangzi said, reaching hastily to switch the radio off. "Didn't you see the bell?"
Protecting Liu Sang's ears instinctively I love this!
This is just such a perfect example of their relationship. And I love them ganging up on Liu Sang. So good.
"We're looking after you," Wu Xie said. "You just got out of hospital. You're being looked after."
"We're not accepting arguments at this time," Pangzi added.
Arguing with them is futile. He'll learn this eventually.
I can totally see why this got the chop but I am SO HAPPY you shared it because it's adorable and perfect and now I'm going to go to bed and cry over these idiots and how much they love each other.
DMBJ, Liu Sang, Sickness
Fill: Liu Sang, Sickness (1/?)
"Don't get your germs on me," Pangzi said.
Liu Sang glared, or tried to, but the effect was sadly ruined by a coughing fit. He shoved his sleeve over his face, trying to muffle it, and took the opportunity to mop at his nose.
"Who's got germs?" Wu Xie asked. A bit absently, because he was mostly absorbed by staring at the carvings.
Pangzi rolled his eyes. "Jinx does. Seriously, have you not noticed?"
Wu Xie broke off his examination of the stones to examine Liu Sang instead. "Pangzi's right, you do look sick," he said. "Are you sure you should be here?"
Liu Sang gritted his teeth at the unwanted attention. "It's a cold," he said. "I'm fine."
"You've been snuffling all morning," Pangzi said. "It's getting annoying."
Liu Sang sniffed as viciously as he could, pettily pleased when Pangzi shot him a disgusted look. He knew he was sniffling. He couldn't not be aware. The worst thing about colds was the noise.
The second-worst thing was the horrible endless sensation of his nose endlessly trying to melt off his face. He surreptitiously used his sleeve again to wipe the sore skin above his upper lip. Of course he didn't have any tissues with him.
"Seriously, you can go back to the hotel if you like," Wu Xie said.
"You already needed my hearing to get through one of this tomb's puzzles," Liu Sang said. "How do you expect to manage without me if there are more of them?"
"I'm sure we can figure something out," Wu Xie said.
A hand clamped over Liu Sang's forehead from behind. It was so unexpected that his body reacted without conscious input -- he jabbed backwards with his elbow, twisting away almost before making contact, throwing his body towards the nearest solid wall, before turning back to see his attacker --
-- Who was Pangzi. Of course. Looking very startled, and a bit winded. "Jinx?" he said, cautiously. "Liu Sang?"
Liu Sang realised he was breathing hard. A horrible raspy sound. "Sorry," he panted, shakily. "Sorry." And then embarrassment kicked in, wrapped in fury for protection. "What were you doing?" he snapped.
"Checking to see if you had a fever," Pangzi said. Still very carefully. "I didn't mean to sneak up on you."
"I don't need you checking anything," Liu Sang retorted. Still badly shaken by not having noticed Pangzi approach.
"How about we all take a break?" Wu Xie asked, very diplomatically. "We should wait for Xiaoge to get back from scouting."
The plan had been to try and open the next door while Zhang Qiling was scouting. Liu Sang reluctantly sat down when the other two did, and took a long and badly-needed drink from his canteen. Pangzi and Wu Xie were both surreptitiously eyeing him so hard it was practically a physical sensation, between doing their supremely annoying thing of trying to communicate with each other through face-twitches. Liu Sang was spitefully pleased that his presence prevented any of their more effective forms of gossiping.
Re: Fill: Liu Sang, Sickness (1/?)
This is so very Wu Xie. Totally oblivious to his surroundings when there are things for him to look at

Oh, no, my babies! Both of them!
I love this so much!

Re: Fill: Liu Sang, Sickness (1/?)
Honestly either would be delightful :D
DMBJ, Wu Xie, Architecture
Re: FILL: DMBJ, Wu Xie, Architecture
***
Pangzi couldn’t have said exactly what alerted him, but after so many decades he had a sixth sense about Wu Xie touching something he shouldn’t have touched, and also about the likely implications of a rush of something passing through him in a tomb, leaving his hairs standing on end.
He ran into the chamber which Wu Xie and Xiaoge had been inspecting, calling over his shoulder for Liu Sang to follow him. Sure enough, Wu Xie and Xiaoge were both on the ground, as though they’d been thrown there. A section of the carved wall was now a door into darkness.
Xiaoge was already pushing himself up, Pangzi noted with relief, and seemed uninjured. He knelt down besides Wu Xie, who was blinking.
“What the fuck, Tianzhen? Are you OK? That felt like a curse to me.” He patted Wu Xie down: no visible injury.
“I do have a….” A peculiar expression came over Wu Xie’s face. “A degree in architecture,” he finished.
“Yeah, we know,” said Pangzi, frowning. “Are you concussed? You hit your head, didn’t you?” He took his gloves off and started feeling through Wu Xie’s hair. “Xiaoge, a little help here?”
“No,” said Xiaoge.
Pangzi turned to stare at him. He was getting a very bad feeling about whatever just happened in this chamber. Xiaoge also had a strange expression, as though he was struggling with something. He frowned at Pangzi. “No,” he said, more decisively, and his eyes widened, with what looked like shock.
Wu Xie was sitting up, also looking at Xiaoge. He tugged on Pangzi’s arm, and started tapping out a message.
“Yes, that’s what you just said,” Pangzi said. “I heard it the first time. You are definitely not OK, Tianzhen, fuck.”
Wu Xie stopped conveying his qualifications via their code, and ran a hand through his hair, looking frustrated. “I,” he said. “Do….I have…architecture.” He waved a hand at the walls, urgently.
Pangzi turned to Liu Sang, who was hovering behind them. “Jinx,” he said. “Do you know what the fuck is going on? What did you hear?”
“I do have,” said Wu Xie, insistent, waving his hands more emphatically, and then pointing at himself. “Degree.”
“No,” Xiaoge agreed.
Liu Sang looked as confused as Pangzi was. “They were talking,” he said. “I mostly tuned it out. I think, ah…Wu Xie was talking about the carvings and the bricks, he asked whether ouxiang agreed that the tomb was fourth century, and something about bricks and a door, I wasn’t paying attention. And then I think they were having a disagreement? Then there was a weird noise, and you went running.”
Wu Xie grabbed Pangzi’s arms and stared into his eyes. “I do have a degree in architecture,” he said, meaningfully.
“I know, Tianzhen, you’re always….wait, wait.” Wu Xie rolled his eyes at him, his hands tightening on his shoulders. “It was a curse,” said Pangzi, feeling it out, and watching Wu Xie for encouragement. “And now you can’t say—or wait, not just say, ah, convey or something— anything other than…the last thing you said before it hit?”
“A degree in architecture,” Wu Xie said, nodding.
“Always something new to fuck with us, eh?” said Pangzi. “Could be worse.” He sighed. “Fine. Go on through this door and see if there’s something ahead to fix this, or get you two out of here and leave it to the wonders of time and modern medicine? Xiaoge? If you think we should carry on, say no twice.”
Xiaoge made an unusually expressive face, though what it seemed to express was annoyance. “No,” he said. “No.”
“That’s a yes, then. Tianzhen, carrying on, ah, wait a second, how about, do or don’t, say nothing for 'don't'?”
Wu Xie heaved a sigh. “Do,” he said.
“And I’m with these two, so that’s a majority.” Pangzi looked at Liu Sang. “You want to come, or head out?”
Liu Sang shrugged. “I’ll come.” His mouth twitched. “Looks like you’ll need someone to talk to.”
Wu Xie made a rude gesture at him. Pangzi snorted, and helped Wu Xie up, putting an arm round him.
“I see you had no problem with that level of communication,” he said, squeezing Wu Xie’s shoulder, and stretching out a hand for Xiaoge to clasp. “Don’t worry, I’m an old hand at interpreting you two, even without a college degree.”
"I do," said Wu Xie, hugging him back, clear as day.

Re: FILL: DMBJ, Wu Xie, Architecture
I really liked how quickly Pangzi worked it out, and how they were able to communicate anyway. Such lovely feels!
Re: FILL: DMBJ, Wu Xie, Architecture
And the feels at the end! My heart!
Re: FILL: DMBJ, Wu Xie, Architecture
Also, kudos to Liu Sang for possibly the best line: “Looks like you’ll need someone to talk to.”
XD EXCELLENT.
But yeah, I am always a sucker for the unspoken communication and understanding between them and this is the kind of situation that would absolutely scupper anyone else, but I'm sure they'll sail through just fine. ^_^ Lovely little story, many feels!
